Retailers from Havelock Street in Blyth town centre have come together to raise money for local mental health and learning disability charity, Blyth Star Enterprises.
Shops including The Beauty Factory, Sent from Heaven spiritual readings and tea room, Unit Twenty barbers, Hair @ The Den, Fabios Pizzas, Rickard Estate Agents and Celebrations card store have raised an impressive £345 for the community-based charity by donating gifts to a prize hamper draw for customers to enter.
Manager of The Beauty Factory, Rebecca Boucheron, came up with the idea having learned of the essential services and facilities which Blyth Star provides from a customer. She explained, “A conversation with one of our regular clients gave me the idea to do something for the charity as they do so much good work right on our doorstep. Once I had spoken to the other store owners, everyone was keen to get involved so they each donated products and services worth a total of over £250. Havelock Street customers have been very supportive too buying tickets and we’re delighted to have raised so much for a very worthwhile cause.”
Julie Dixon, Operations Director of Blyth Star Enterprises added, “As a local community-based charity, we appreciate the help and commitment of local people to enable us to provide essential living support, sheltered employment, training and life coaching to our many users. Those living in Blyth and the surrounding areas are very much at the heart of what we do therefore we’re grateful to the store owners who came up with the idea, donated prizes as well as the customers who purchased tickets.”
