The World's No1 Eric Clapton Tribute Bandaremaking a welcome return to The Phoenix Theatrein July after a gap of 4 years. Most of their previous visits sold out so fans are advised to book early.2023 is likely to be the final year of shows by the full Classic Clapton band. They intend to continue with acoustic shows in future.

The band features front-manMike Hallwho not only looks like Eric, he sings and plays guitar like him too!They were formed in 1985 in Newcastle and named themselves''After Midnight''afterEric Clapton’s first solo hit. In the past 38 years they have become one of the best-loved bands in the north east. 

Tyne Tees Televisionwere so impressedthey made a programme about them, called'COVER THEIR TRACKS'. It was screened in 2000 and received rave reviews, leading to national recognition.

CLASSIC CLAPTONcomprises 4 excellent musicianswho stunningly recreate Slowhand's electrifying stage performances.   

The band has toured throughout the UK including numerous sell-out shows. They have appeared atThe Royal Festival HallandGlastonbury Festivalwhere they were a major success. In the past few years they have played numerous concerts in Europe includingSpain, Estonia,Holland&France.In 2009 & 2016 they touredIndia. In March 2017 they appeared inColombo, Sri Lanka.

The show is a 2-hour journey through the music of Eric Clapton including all of his hits –Wonderful Tonight, I Shot The Sheriff, Lay Down Sally, Crossroads, Tears in Heaven, Laylaand even an Unplugged segment.The whole of EC's illustrious career is covered includingCream, The Bluesbreakers, The Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Derek & The Dominosand the solo years.
