This Friday is Good Friday…… It is also time to Rock at The Masons Arms on Plessey Road, Blyth as the venue plays host to The Repertoire Dogs celebrating their 10th anniversary gig!
Local Blyth band members, Davy Oram, Rocker couple Kev & Emma Wells, Steven Harper & Stephen Clark are ready to make March 25th a Good Friday to remember at one of the longest standing local pubs in town.
‘The Rep Durgs’ as they are affectionately known by many local fans, have appeared at various venues across the North-East over the past ten years, whether it was seeing in New-Years Eve or appearing at local summer festivals, one thing is for sure….they always entertain.
They are a five-piece Rock cover band who play songs from a variety of different decades. They cover bands and artists such as Guns 'n' Roses, Poison, Metallica, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest, Cheap Trick, Kiss, Dogs D'Amour, Richie Sambora, Muse, Rammstein, Pink Floyd, Krokus, Starship, Nazareth, Volbeat and Thin Lizzy amongst others.
Davy is a charismatic and flamboyant front-man who you will not forget seeing, as he dances and sings amongst the crowd on occasions - along with getting everybody in the mood with his stage presence. The vocalist may appear with shoulder-length eighties rock star hair, or he may have none at all depending on how hot & sweaty it gets in the venue.
Kev is the lead guitarist who always impresses with his top-quality playing style, amazing riffs and he looks cooler than Slash on stage. I’ve been in the crowd many times when other punters have described him as the best guitarist they have witnessed in a local venue.
Emma is on rhythm guitar and vocals, singing some classic songs herself and providing backing vocals on others. A rocker and party animal - there will always be smiles in the crowd and on-stage, coupled with lighters in the air during the mass sing-a-longs.
Steven Harper is on bass guitar and is also the sound man, complimenting the guitars and drums superbly. With his blonde Viking-esque hair and beard he looks and sounds the real-deal on that stage.
Stephen ‘Clarkie’ Clark is a brilliant drummer with energetic style and a lust for life which Keith Moon would be proud of. His drum solo’s go down a treat and he will be loving it up there under the lights & smoke. His influences come from some of his favourite drummers in Steve Smith, Neil Peart, Jojo Mayer, Buddy Rich, Taylor Hawkins, Chad Smith & Tim Alexander.
‘Keva’ is the charismatic light-technician and could be described as ‘the sixth Rep Durg’, always getting into the spirit of the songs and adding to the party atmosphere.
You can join them for a rocking start to the Easter weekend this Good Friday where they will be taking to the stage from 9pm.
