I was recently contacted by Laura Stutt from Tomorrow’s People, based in Blyth and she provided some brilliant information on their venture to help young people in the area.……

“I would like to take this opportunity to say hello and explain who we are and what we do……Tomorrow’s People are an innovative national charity that is transforming people’s lives through work. We help disadvantage adults and young people to get and keep a job.

Everything we do is focused on improving the long-term prospects of those who face the greater barriers to work: we are looking for employers to take on our young people on a placement with full support from Tomorrows People.

We have recently launched ‘Blyth Works’ project, our Second centre in Northumberland.

Due to the high rate of unemployment within the Blyth, Bedlington and Cramlington areas of Northumberland we are keen to engage our young people into training or employment opportunities with your company.

The works is a ten week programme that helps unemployed young people in rural areas find new opportunities and gainful (sustained) employment. We will help connect young people to local employers and colleges so they can gain employment, voluntary work, work experience or go back into study.

We try to find each individual’s strengths and match them to the role that is best suited to their skills; we do this through work experience, taster days and daily tasks that are part of the ten week schedule. By the end of the ten weeks with us we measure our success by making sure that at least 79% move forward into employment, education or further training.

Our analysis finds that each £1 invested in the youth employment programmes between 2007 and 2014 has on average delivered economic benefits worth more than £4.33 (Bank of England evaluation December 2015).When learners start a job, work placement, study or training, we will support each individual young person for two years after their course to help you make a success of it

We are keen to build a relationship with the local employers and business, within these catchment areas.

We would be very keen to arrange a meeting with you to see how we can work together to support the young people of Blyth and surrounding areas of progress into Employment, Training or further Education, We are also looking to arrange a visit for our staff and young people, to allow them to see how companies operate and function.

Thank you for taking the time to read this short introduction regarding Blyth Works.''
